Outside Academy Achievement

Congratulations Henry!

Henry Hansell, from Year 5, travelled to Ireland to compete in the 1st World Union of Karate Do Federations (WUKF) Ireland Open Championship in Waterford. He was invited to be a part of the Kenshin Karate Organisation squad and was there representing Phoenix Karate Schools and England. Henry and his team competed fantastically and came home with 30 medals between 11 of them. 

Personally, Henry became the Irish Open Champion in age 9 Jureken category by obtaining gold (Jureken is a skills event showing off speed & technique against an opponent on a punchbag). In addition, he competed in the 15 years and under long weapons category using a bo staff and came joint 4^th, just missing out on a medal. 

Overall, Henry had a great time and gained valuable experience and confidence.
