Last week, Year 3 had a visit from Titus, a Roman soldier who told the children all about what it was like to be a Roman. They practised charging at the enemy and recreating actual Roman shield formations, seeing real Roman weapons and marching around with their scutums (shields) just as the army would have. While the children were in the classroom, we learned about Roman coins and the children recreated their own. We were also looking at mysterious artifacts left behind from the Iceni tribe and the Roman army. The children had a fantastic day and learned so much from the experience!
