Year 2 Explore Habitats at Carlton Marshes

A day of discovery and wildlife spotting

On Friday 5th June, Year 2 had a fantastic day at Carlton Marshes as part of their new Science topic on habitats. We were fortunate with the lovely weather, which meant everyone could fully enjoy the wide range of activities.

During our walk around the nature reserve, we spotted birds of prey, several varieties of ducks, and spent time birdwatching in the hide. The children also noticed a wide range of plants and trees along the way. On our bug hunt, they discovered lots of insects living in different habitats.

The highlight for many was definitely the dyke dipping, which was a big hit with both children and adults!

The children were excellent ambassadors for our school, and the staff at Carlton Marshes commented on their fantastic behaviour. A big thank you to Charlotte and her team for providing such a fun and educational day.
