Year 5 children, from Ormiston Cliff Park Primary Academy, have been busy promoting British Science Week. To open the week, we invited the talented Mr Gott, a lead practitioner for Science in Ormiston Academies, to provide an imperative insight to Chemistry in Key Stage 3 and 4 and how fun the subject can be. He carefully weaved local potential future careers to each experiment which displayed the impact science has on the local community. To conclude the week, the children were challenged to investigate friction on with different surfaces. The children were challenged to plan, investigate, and make a balloon powered car and see how they travelled over different surfaces. Using their collected data, they were able to conclude which surface created less friction and give detailed answers to why.
