The U11 boys’ team played in the Great Yarmouth League Final against Martham.
We made a fantastic start, dominating the first half and playing some excellent one-touch football; we took the lead after a low cross from Leo was turned in by a Martham defender.
As the match progressed, Cliff Park had several half-chances to extend their lead but were not able to score again. Martham through caution to the wind in an attempt to equalise and scored a last-minute goal to level the match at 1-1.
In extra time, Martham were able to keep hold of the momentum and scored the winning goal with a header from a corner.
Our children were all bitterly disappointed but should be extremely proud of themselves. They have represented the school superbly not just with their football but with the respect they have shown opposition players and match officials over the course of the year, a wonderful group of children with whom it has been a pleasure to work. They were the better team in a match against the Norfolk Champions and were only a minute away from becoming league champions themselves.
Their final fixture of the year will be the cup final which will be played later this term.
