Norfolk County Champions

Victory over Taverham for U11 girls football team

The U11 girls’ football team became Norfolk County Champions for the first time in over a decade after a victory over Taverham Junior School in the County Final.

On Tuesday 24th January the Norfolk County Final took place at the Brundall Sports Hub.
The match was a closely fought encounter with Cliff Park creating the better chances in the first half. They took a 1-0 lead into the break after an exceptional long range strike from Niamh. A number of opportunities to extend the lead were missed before Taverham managed to equalise. After this, the game became tight and scrappy and chances were few and far between. With the scores level at 1-1, we moved into a period of extra time which produced no further goals.

A penalty shootout was required to separate the teams and Cliff Park emerged victorious with goals from Paige and Sadie and a number of quality saves from Amelia.

We now advance to the regional finals which will be played in Kent in March.

This is an incredible achievement and all children involved should be very proud.
